When Apple releases the successor to macOS Mojave there will no longer be any support for 32 bit applications including QuickTime 7 Pro. In addition, its replacement QuickTime Player will no longer play unsupported codecs like Avid’s DNxHD format. With macOS Mojave, even now if you try and play an Avid DNxHD video, it starts converting it. As a consequence I have been on the lookout for a simple player to function as a replacement and I think I have found it.

Avid has released Pro Tools 2019.5, as promised by Avid’s François Quereuil in our exclusive interview, with more voices for most Pro Tools Ultimate users, support for macOS Mojave 10.14.3, more functions won’t cause Pro Tools to stop during playback and a doubling of the number of MIDI tracks, all of which we have known about for a while. But what is news with the release of 2019.5 is is the addition of Multiseat Network licensing for large facilities and educational establishments.
As well as releasing Pro Tools 2019.5, Avid have also released a new version of the Eucon control software, EuControl 19.5.0 and the Pro Tools Control app 19.5.0, which amongst the new features added, brings new monitor control options in the Pro Tools Control app as well as Avid control surfaces like the Pro Tools Dock and S3.

This new DigiLink option card for the Avid MTRX will provide 2 more primary mini DigILink ports to the Avid Pro Tools MTRX modular interface. This will enable an MTRX to become the single hub for a multi Pro Tools room or a single interface for an HDX 3 Pro Tools system.
