Back in May 2019, as part of a series of articles offering advice for users of macOS Catalina on resolving issues with 32-bit applications, like MPEG Streamclip, no longer working with mac10.15, we showcased and produced a tutorial on how to use ffWorks to replace MPEG Streamclip. We have just learnt that they have released ffWorks 2 with a raft of improvements and fixes including the ability to create Droplets, support Multiple Watch folders, New Video & Audio Filters and much more.
What’s New In ffWorks 2 Highlights
Full rewritten WatchFolder feature. It is now possible to have unlimited watch folders.
New Droplets feature.
New Search feature (to search and locate FFmpeg options).
New batch information panes.
New menu Tools
Rewritten commandline compiler.
Advanced and filters are now split into separated windows.
Added Find, Info, Subtitle wizard and monitor buttons to each batch file for fast/easy access.
Added support for 2 and 3-pass encoding for HEVC, VP8 and VP9 with CRF (constant ratio factor).
Added AAC (hardware accelerated) mode option (Auto, Constant bitrate, Long-term average bitrate, Constrained variable bitrate and Variable bitrate)
Download FFmpeg
As we pointed out in our ffWorks tutorial, you need to download and install a compiled version of FFmpeg for ffWorks to work as they deliberately do not include the open-source FFmpeg code in ffWorks as FFmpeg is constantly being updated.
