In this week's Free Plugin, we are featuring SK10 from Wavesfactory, a sub-kick simulator designed to simulate a sub-kick microphone to add bass energy to kick drum recordings.
What is a Sub-kick?
A sub-kick mic is a type of microphone used primarily for recording kick drums. It’s often a speaker driver converted into a microphone. Thanks to its heavy diaphragm, a sub-kick captures a lot of low end, and it’s a perfect fit along with your regular kick mic for boosting the low frequencies. Just instantiate SK10 on your kick track, dial in the amount to taste and apply the low pass filter. Then just blend it in with the original track.
