This week’s free plugin is EQ Curve Analyzer from Bertom Audio, a plugin which analyses the frequency and phase response of EQ plugins.
What Is EQ Curve Analyzer?
EQ Curve Analyzer can be used to give real time analysis of any plugin which has an effect in the frequency domain. Equalisers and filters are an obvious first choice but checking out the frequency response of other plugins can be interesting too. For example the slight HF lift of an LA2A or the Fairchild’s roll off at the top and bottom. Check out the response of Avid’s Shiny Wah below.
You can’t use a plugin while analysing it, the process works by placing the plugin you’re interested in inbetween two instances of EQ Curve Analyzer. The first should be set to generate a test signal using the Set As Gen button, the second displays the resulting EQ curve in green and if you press the Phase button, the phase response in purple.
Full instructions are supplied as part of the installer.
EQ Curve Analyzer is available on a pay what you want basis. The option to choose a price is given but if you don’t want to pay you can download it for free without providing any card or other payment info. Just enter an email address and you’ll receive a mail with the download links. We always recommend supporting small developers so do consider paying for the plugin if you can.
How Do I Get EQ Curve Analyzer?
Click the button to go to the Bertom Audio website and make a purchase. As mentioned above, if you can pay it’s always worth rewarding developers for their work but if you want it for free then just enter an email address. EQ Curve Analyzer is available for windows and macOS as a VST, AU and AAX plugin, Apple Silicon compatible, no iLok required.
