This week’s free plugin is Deelay from Sixthsample, a fully featured delay plugin which definitely goes further than your stock delay plugin.
What Is Deelay?
As the name implies, it’s a delay. What’s good about it it that it offers all the facilties I look for in a delay and not too many of the ones I don’t. it can do clean but it excels at warmer, vibey sounds.
As well as the standard features you’d expect like tempo sync, modulation and filters it adds diffusion for reverby sounds, reverse and chaos modes and some great sounding distortion features. It passes my test of any delay worth using in that it doesn’t create zipper noise when changing the delay time and, it initially appears that the filters are across the output rather than in the feedback loop but that is a switchable option. My only criticism was going to be that the dry and wet level controls are reset when changing presets but their level can be locked using the padlock icon. They have done a great job on this plugin!
