For those who come here regularly then my love of using hardware will come as no surprise - as far as I'm concerned a rack with a space is simply plain wrong and telling me to use a blanking panel is simply unacceptable.
Joking apart, I like my hardware and I love the resurgence of 500 series, it enables many of us to use great gear but without the associated space that a full rack takes up. When I first got into 500 series I dabbled and so I went for a 3 way lunch box style chassis, then I got some more so went for a 3 way rack design - over time I've wanted to sell those and use a single chassis to house my Maag and Lindell 500 series modules.
I had seen the Lindell 506 Power online and for the cost it seemed to offer everything I needed. It's a no frills 6 way chassis. What I mean my no-frills is that some 500 series racks offer linking and other extras - but I have to tell you that in the year I owned them I never used the features once.
The Lindell Audio 506 Power offers XLR in and Out on the rear, as well as an IEC power connection and switch.
Lindell Audio 506 Power In Use
The Lindell Audio 506 Power comes in a box along with the power cable and a neoprene style 'carry case', I'm sure someone would have a use for it, but I'm as likely to become the next female President of the US than use it, but it's nice to see it. The Lindell Audio 506 power also comes with the screws to fix the 500 series modules in place.
Installing the modules was a breeze, this is not always the case from previous experience with other more costly chassis - but the engineering quality on this case is excellent. Having seen the pictures online it looked plastic, but this is nothing of the sort, in fact it's a nice solid piece of black steel which feels like it could survive a bomb going off - I can't overestimate how good the build quality is.
It is also helpful to have power indicators on the rear to show you that nothing is amiss.
There's not a lot more to say about the Lindell Audio 506 Power, other than it is one of the cheaper 500 series chassis on the market and yet offers everything one could want with excellent build quality that belies the price or the pictures you may see online.
I'm keeping this one - the other two are going on eBay, it may be a simple part of my studio but whenever I put my hand in my pocket then we have to give it Editor's Choice - Mike said I could!
If you are in the market for a 6 way 500 series chassis then put this at the top of your list - it does what it says on the tin!
