In this free tip, Pro Tools Expert team member Julian Rodgers demonstrates how to find an approximate tempo for the purposes of setting delay times using the T key.
"Close Enough" Tempo
Pro Tools has excellent tools like Beat Detective for building accurate tempo maps but for the purposes of rough tempos for tempo-synced delays that's not really necessary. Tempo maps have to be accurate because tiny differences add up cumulatively and add together to become big differences between the tempo map and the audio it is mapping. Because delays rarely repeat more than a few times these errors don't have the chance to build up. This is why a rough tempo will do in this case.
