What Do The Results Of This A.I. Mastering Shootout Tell Us?
The results from our previous mastering shootout which featured a pro mastering engineer, mixing professional and LANDR were very close... almost too close to call. The results from each of these polls, thankfully, give us better insight into things compared to our previous mastering poll.
The combined results suggest that CloudBounce and iZotope's Mastering Assistant are similar in the quality of their algorithms but LANDR clearly produced masters that were prefered by nearly half The Pro Tools Expert Community that took part in these tests. It should also be noted that the iZotope Ozone 8 Mastering Assistant is designed to provide a guide and suggestions for mastering to enable human interpretation to take over and finish the job.
This poll clearly shows that people are willing and keen to hear what artificial intelligence can produce in the audio production industry. A.I is definitely here to stay, for better or for worse, and it's certainly making some waves (pun intended) in our industry. Often when we post polls on Pro Tools Expert, we get a gut feeling where the results will go, we're not always right in our predictions but this time, we had no idea who would win.
