Hiss And A Roar Release Granular IRL
For Granular IRL they decided to explore the concept of granular DSP synthesis and processing, but in the real world. The chose to find props and environments so they could generate and manipulate sound at an elemental level, working with grains of sound, scaleable and physical. Check out the making of video to get a better idea of the sounds they have pursued, and the resulting 12GB library.
Elements scaled from grains of rice, plastic & glass beads, pumpkin seeds & marbles through to pebbles, stones, rocks, potatoes, pumpkins, rain sticks, a machete, footsteps, metal pipes & a shovel.
Resonating surfaces and environments include two steel/pan drums, antique zither, acoustic guitar, floor tom, metal pots, copper bucket, plastic bin, a snare drum, a subwoofer, a dry river bed and a granite cliff face.

Crowdsource SFX - A Hub For Crowd Sourced SFX Libraries
This mission of Crowdsource SFX is to establish a platform for the creation and distribution of crowdsourced sound effects libraries. In the past there have been a few successful crowdsourced libraries, but their aim with their site is to take a much more prolific approach to the genre, with an eventual goal of releasing at least one library per month. Once a library is completed and released to participating members, the libraries will be made available for sale to non-participating members, and profits from these sales will be redistributed to participating members.
Anyone can take part however their target audience is primarily independent sound recordists, anyone with basic recording gear can take a recording and contribute it to a library. Each library has different standards for minimum requirements listed in the library’s description, so as long as your sounds meet those requirements you can contribute. All the submitted sounds will be checked to ensure that they are all of sufficient quality.
There are currently three open libraries at the moment, Dook Creaks And Beyond, Forest Ambiences, and Electrical Noises.
If you want to know more about how Crowdsource SFX works and how the revenue will be split up then check out the How It Works page on their site.
Undertone Sound Library Release Drones 1
The sub heading for Drones 1 is "Dark blues, blacks, underwater-like sounds, distant banging, and forebodingly slow movement".
Inspired by Alan Splet and Ann Kroeber and their Surrealistic Atmospheres for David Lynch films, they created these surrealistic drones and industrial ambiences for use in film projects. They were looking for dark, mysterious and gigantically deep tones that had slow movements. They can be used as beds or as principle atmospheres and are great for horror films, thrillers or dramas where a dark and deep tonality is needed.
