Jan Kristoffersen
I am an electronics engineer with a master in acoustics. I am also a songwriter and a keyboard player. I have been working with music and recording since I was a kid, and now I run a small studio in my house in Sweden. I use a Pro Tools HDX system, and do pretty much everything in the box.
I have all kinds of clients here, from many countries, and I do everything from recording to mixing and mastering. Yesterday I scored a video for the first time in my life, so life in the countryside is never boring!
Working alone is a challenge sometimes, and I miss being able to discuss my work with other professionals. Getting to be a part of the pureMix society will surely change that. I am excited to be able to learn from the best in the industry and hopefully even make contributions to the community. Thank you for helping me become a better professional!
Bernard Blackburn
I live in Wellington, New Zealand and my background is in music from punk/new wave to country. I've had limited formal training but have aways had a punk/DIY ethos. I was a bit of a late starter in my audio career but really got going in my early thirties in a studio at an educational facility working with Pro Tools. I had the good fortune to be working with an engineer who was vastly experienced and had worked at both the HMV and EMI studios in Wellington. We did a bit of everything: voice recording, archiving, radio-play style productions, music and eventually expanded into location sound and video post production.
As is the way of the world our unit was shut down and I decided to start my own business, Refried Audio Productions. After a couple of years things were starting to get moving when health problems struck my family and I had to reassess my priorities. I had been working part-time as a technician in the Film Program of Victoria University of Wellington and when a full time position came up I snapped it up. My duties there include training students in location sound recording and post production and we have a mixing facility recently fitted out with a Pro Tools Native HD system and surround monitoring. Currently my home studio (pictured) is a bit under utilised although I still do as many projects as I can and I am currently working on an album for a local folk artist.
I'm excited about winning the pureMix subscription. It has been one of the online resources I've been looking into for personal development in my current position but I also think it will give me skills and momentum to get my business back up and running.
Andy Gabrys
I am a Canadian composer and Andy Gabrys Music is based in Santa Fe, NM USA. I create music for picture - which is a combination at present of production music, commercial music and indie-film scores. My music is represented by a number of publishers and has appeared in more than 50 television programs in over 18 countries.
In the past I have bought various videos from pureMix that have helped me learn mixing techniques and have increased my ability to hear fine nuances especially when mixing vocals. I think Fab has a really top-notch way of explaining and demonstrating those nuances - and I am really interested in forwarding my mixing and production skills.
Nico Teichmann
I’m a german based recording and mixing engineer working in different studios as well as a lot on location. My focus is on jazz, acoustic pop and classical music.
I have been a pureMix member in the past and really enjoyed the good quality of the videos. It’s so inspiring to see guys like Fab, Ben and Andrew talking about there techniques and workflows. But unfortunately my membership ran out way too quickly. So I’m really happy now to get another year to continue checking out all the cool stuff. Thanks a lot pureMix and PTE!
Sebastian Gsuck
We are MediaApes GmbH. We are based in south Germany in a city called Neustadt an der Weinstraße close to Mannheim. We are a media company and work with artists composing and producing for a lot of own projects and for clients.
For example, this year we wrote and produced the soundtrack for the ice hockey champions of Germany the "Adler Mannheim“. This video is played in the SAP Arena before every game. It is also available to buy on line or stream it in Spotify. We released it on our own label ApeTunes. In 2016 we will become a co-publishing company of a major international publisher.
A sentence in our philosophy - "To learn out of own mistakes is intelligent – To listen and learn from others and use it for yourself is wise!"
We love to work with high-end equipment and we also love to constantly improve our skills. With Puremix we have a perfect tutorial tool to move on with our skills. We have just bought the Apollo p8 for a new production environment to use for external recordings and to use the amazing plug-ins of UA. Puremix great videos about using stuff from UA. The information level combined with fun from the team at pureMix is brilliant! This will help us take our mixes and recordings to the next level. Thank you Pro Tools Expert.
