When talking about the order in which you should arrange your plugins people often talk about whether it should be eq then compression or the other way around, and when you mention parallel processing most people think of compression.
But the order your time based effects like reverb, delay and modulation makes every bit as much difference. Should they be used in parallel on separate busses or with one feeding into the other in series? If used in series then what difference does the order make?
Guitarists talk about this kind of thing when planning pedal boards and we should put just as much thought into it too.
In this free tutorial production Expert team member Julian Rodgers uses a phaser and a reverb in different arrangements of serial and parallel and considers the difference it makes.
