Producer Paul Drew shows how to add snap and power to a snare drum in a pop track.
In this free video tutorial, created with the kind support of Waves, Paul uses the CLA76 to show how to add snap and power to the sound.
In the video he explains who unique settings in the 1176 compressor can be used to adjust the attack and release to give more edge and thicken the sound of the snare, he also demonstrates the difference between different versions of the 1176 compressor using a feature only found in the Waves CLA76.
The Waves CLA76 is based on the much loved vintage 1176 compressor, this one is based on Chris Lord Alge’s own unit. The CLA76 can be used on a variety of sources such as vocals, bass and drums. You can find out more about the plugins made by Waves and CLA in our A-Z of Waves article on Chris Lord Alge
