In this week’s podcast, Julian is joined by James Ivey and Gareth Young. Both guests are at opposite ends of significant builds and share their experience in the planning and execution of a recording studio project.
James Ivey
James has been playing the drums since the tender age of 7, from that moment on there was no stopping him. Since his first 4-track tape recorder at the age of 12 which gave him the bug for recording he has been collecting and acquiring gear to make his studio and productions the best they can be. He has worked for studio equipment suppliers and installers as well as companies like Sibelius and later Avid, iZotope, and now Antelope Audio and McDSP.
Gareth Young
Gareth has over 30 years experience in the recording industry , He started his career as a songwriter and part of a group signed to Warner Chappell in the USA
After returning to the UK he became an in house songwriter/producer for windswept music penning a number of songs for artists such as Sugababes , Appleton , Danni Minogue, Ronan Keating and was co director of a music management team riff raft music which developed and obtained recording and publishing contracts for artists and writers
Gareth is currently owner of Cube Recording, a residential studio in the lovely surroundings of Cornwall,
