Last month we ran a competition in partnership with our friends over at Steven Slate Audio to win one of their VSX Headphones System worth £479. We are excited to announce the lucky winner, and pleased to introduce you to Steve Belgrave.
Over To You Steve…
I’m a freelance mixing, mastering engineer, producer and sound designer at emixpro, based in Surrey in the UK. Over the last 15 years I’ve worked on audio mixing and mastering projects for the Rolling Stones, U2, Liam Gallagher (Beady Eye) as well as the BBC, Dreamworks, ABC, Discovery Channel and Channel 4 on audio post and sound design projects. I’m also involved in some exciting audio hardware and software development projects as a product development advisor. Still, nothing tops working with independent artists and recording live instruments in great spaces. It continues to remain my first love.
How The Prize Will Help Me
I’ve read a lot of great things about the new Slate Audio VSX headphone system. Being able to ultilise a range of great spaces as reference to help me further fine-tune the mix is a really great tool to have in your box. Since I also do sound design work for vehicles, the variety of included reference spaces are a massive plus, its really great they’ve modelled an ‘Electric Car’. Being a closed back design, I can also see these being great headphones for performer cue mixes. Getting a great cue mix and having the artist absorbed in a great space can really help when it comes to their performance.
