A new pro version of the Mac mini is coming soon according to reliable industry sources. Furthermore, the new Mac mini will offer more professional power using the Apple Silicon M1 Pro and M1 Max processors.
If it performs anything like the MacBook Pro M1 Max then this could be the Mac many music and post audio professionals have been waiting for.
The new Mac mini 2022 are slated to be announced Spring 2022, expected feature;
M1 Pro and M1 Max powered.
A thinner design.
Magnetic power.
Four USB Type-C Thunderbolt ports.
Two USB-A ports.
Ethernet port and HDMI port.
Increased SSD and memory configurations.
Apple Insider say;
“Rumors surrounding a new Mac mini with pro-level processors have been sparse, but accurate sources corroborate a spring 2022 release window. Beyond that, very little has been shared beyond its redesigned case with the M1 Pro and M1 Max processors and more Thunderbolt ports.”
Reliable leaker Jon Prosser says of the new design that it will have a plexiglass top, a thinner aluminium chassis and include rubber feet. The easy-access panel on the bottom of the Mac mini is also gone.
One slightly odd prediction is that Apple will remove the headphone socket on the new Mac mini. This would be a strange move as the internal speaker is not suitable for high quality playback. This may be another moment that Apple has decided to push this problem onto dock manufacturers.
