Phil McGowan is the founder of McGowan Soundworks and this is an excellent extended walkthrough of his mix for of a recorded at home choir used for Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War. He has given us permission to share it with the Production Expert Community. This is what Phil says about the video.
Join me as I show you how I mixed the Recorded-At-Home Choir on the Main Theme by Jack Wall for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War!
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the session choir singers here in LA were unable to join together to record in a studio so each of the 16 singers recorded themselves at home and sent in those recordings for me to mix with Strings, Brass, and Prelays.
This presented a little bit of a challenge to make the choir sound as if they were recorded in a big studio so I had to work a little magic to make it work.
I even rock my default pandemic garb of Swoveralls and a T Shirt so you'll get the comfy vibes with me in my home studio.
