If you have a lot of drives hanging off your Mac then you might want to check out Jettison, an app for unmounting and remounting drives and other disk based elements.
In Short
Jettison gives you a fast way to unmount and remount drives connected to you Mac, with a few extra tricks. It costs less than a cup of coffee.
In Depth
If you’re a Mac user and have a lot of drives connected then you might already use the shortcut CMD E to unmount drives. However, Jettison is a handy little app that takes that a few steps futher. It costs $4.95, which is a great price for a simple little application.
Jettison works on any Mac, whether you've got a MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac, Mac mini, Mac Studio or Mac Pro.
It ejects external disks when your Mac goes to sleep, then remounts any disks that are still connected when your Mac wakes back up. You can choose what types of disks it works with, as well as exempting or including specific drives that you want treated specially.
Jettison also gives you handy controls in your menu bar to eject all external disks at once, and to eject or mount them individually when the need arises.
As we’ve already said, if you want to unmount drives on a Mac all at once there’s a keyboards shortcut, however, having an application that can unmount drives before your Mac goes to sleep and remounts them when it wakes is welcome, especially if you have a lot of drives connected, our machine has 10 external drives hanging off it.
Having the choice of which drives to unmount and remount is also handy.
