In the UK there’s a few things one never talks about, one of them is how much one earns.
It is perhaps something to do with the historical British view that talking about money, and particularly wealth, is vulgar. However, whilst there may be some merit in this thinking it can work against an entire industry if we have no benchmarks.
For example, if one is considering a career in music or post production wouldn’t it be good to know expected earnings? Furthermore, it’s important to know if you are getting the going rate for your work.
We recognise there are many factors that can vary from person to person. However we wanted to take the temperature of the situation rather than try and go too granular. This survey is not perfect but it should yield some interesting results. The survey takes less than a minute.
We’ve split the survey into several questions to account for the difference in earning potential based on;
Industry sector - music or post
Age
Country
We also ask if you are saving for a retirement plan or pension and also if you have to pay for health care or not. The two factors alone can determine the difference in standard of living long term.
We think a survey like this could be worthwhile for the industry to share.
The entire survey is anonymous and no personally identifiable information is asked for.
Thank you!
