In the video above, Emre Ramazanoglu demonstrates how he set up Drum Leveler from SoundRadix to isolate the snare from a drum performance by using a carefully set threshold in combination with a very tightly filtered sidechain. He then feeds this isolated snare to some heavy reverb.
I found this interesting and tried it for myself, it was only later that I realised I’d done the same isolation but had done it in a totally different way. It’s an interesting illustration of how the high and low thresholds work in Drum Leveler, and it was an excuse to drown a drum loop in delay, and doesn’t everyone love delay?
