The team at Slate Digital are very pleased to announce the amazing sounding TH-U Slate Edition guitar amp, cabinet and effects emulations is now available as part of the Slate Everything bundle as well as a stand-alone purchase. I love a good amp-sim so check out the video below where I dig in and create three very different classic guitar tones.
TH-U Slate Edition By Overloud
There is nothing I love more than letting rip with a killer guitar tone and back in my article Our Top 10 List Of Guitar Amp Emulation Plug-Ins You Should Try In Your Mixes I included the FULL version of Overloud’s TH-U software. TH-U is one of the best complete end-to-end “Amp Sims” around and I am very pleased to say that the Slate Edition sounds as good and feels just as natural.
TH-U Slate Edition
So yes, officially TH-U Slate Edition is a cut-down version of the Overloud’s FULL TH-U but you really will hardly notice. You get 32 amps, including all the usual suspects as well as some rare boutique models. You get 39 cabinets including 1x12, 2x12 and 4x12 models with all the driver variation you would expect. TH-U Slate Edition also includes OwnHammer Slate Exclusive cabinets, which sound stunning, not just another 4x12 with “Green Backs”.
No guitar rig sim would be complete without pedals and with TH-U Slate Edition you get 31 new effects pedals and rack modules including industry-standard overdrives and distortions, filters, reverbs, choruses, delays and a ton more. And as you would expect you can re-order the effects and position them anywhere in the chain.
For those of you who really want to dive in deep you now can with Amp Tweak. This is an innovative DSP technology that Overloud have used in the TH-U Slate Edition to allow you to change an amp’s preamp and power amp valves as well as simulate the action of a variac. This allows you to mod any amplifier model with an almost limitless combination of valves and solid state tone stacks to experience virtually endless tonal capabilities.
TH-U Slate Edition is able to load rig models based on real setups, including the nonlinear and dynamic response of the amplifier, the cabinet, the microphones, the mic preamp and room sound. Rig Play Technology allows users to reproduce entire rigs captured by manufacturers such as Overloud. Just when you were running out of options…
In this video James creates three very different classic guitar tones starting with the basic presets in each of the three categories (Clean, Rock and High Gain). The first clean tone, which could be called “Mauve Down Poor”, is very much a homage to the “artist formerly known as” and uses TH-U Slate Edition in mono mode while the second tone, which is very much more AC/DC in style and the third which is styled on Eric Johnson’s Cliffs Of Dover uses the stereo version of the plug-in. James takes you through each stage of his tone creation and shows you how easy it is to create amazing guitar sounds using TH-U Slate Edition.
