Michael Kammes, founder of the 5 Things blog, which he says "is a web series dedicated to answering the 5 burning tech questions you have about technologies and workflows in the media creation space. Tech stuff I dig, and how it’s used.", decided to build a Hackintosh and then compare it to both the iMac Pro and the Mac Pro Late 2013.
His big question is was it worth it?
Watch the video above and also check out the blog post with build cost and benchmarks to see his results and his feelings about the experience and the machine.
It's a very balanced article and useful information for anyone interested in the Hackintosh route.

Michael Kammes - New (and useful) tech is über exciting. The logic behind the creativity. It’s why, by night, I do things like this; 5 of them in fact. And by day, I'm the Director of Technology for Key Code Media, preaching the gospel on the manipulation of 1's and 0's. Oh, and I used to cut sound, too. Sometimes I get back in the chair. My heart and stomach are in Chicago, but the rest of me is in Los Angeles with my wife and dog. And a very marked up whiteboard.
