Free Kontakt Instrument - Low Drums for Small Woofers

I absolutely love discovering and supporting these little startups from around the globe, taking their shot at becoming supernovae in the ever-expanding universe of Native Instruments' Kontakt instruments. Today's find via KVR, named "Low Drums", is from Rastsound, a team of audio creatives based in Istanbul and Berlin.

What you'll get with this little free drum sample library is eight low drum sounds, with four layers each. It's a teaser product for Rastsound's Designer Drums library which I believe is still in development.

I thought the audio example was not that impressive since there isn't any context.

But I'm thinking "drum layering" here.

As for music genre, I'm thinking Timbaland-ish, perhaps some R&B, Urban, Kanye?

Who knows what these samples will work with, right?

They may go together well with the stomp sample library I wrote about earlier.

Free Kontakt Instruments - Male Choir, Unison String Quartet and Tenor Recorder

Today's spotlight is on Embertone from North Carolina USA, a company that makes affordable instruments for Native Instrument's Kontakt sampler software. They specialize in sampled solo strings, winds, and percussion. They offer a few free Kontakt instruments as well: Ancient Voices, Ivory Wind and Intimate Strings LITE.

Note: all Kontakt instruments below were made for Kontakt 4.2.4 and up (not the free Kontakt Player).

Ambient Voices

For this instrument, team Embertone recorded a professional male chamber choir. It features a 2-octave range, going from C2 to C4. There are three dynamics: Quiet, Medium and Loud, which you can crossfade between via MIDI CC.

Intimate Strings LITE

This Kontakt instrument contains samples of a string quartet playing in unison, good for solo phrasing or to add color to your existing string sample library. Samples were recorded at 48 Khz/16-Bit. True legato via custom Kontakt scripting, 3X round robin.

Ivory Wind

This one features an 80-year old tenor recorder made of wood and ivory. By using the Modwheel, you can control the vibrato intensity; the pitch bend controls the vibrato speed. The sample resolution is 44.1Khz / 24-bit stereo, 3X round robin is optional.

Free Kontakt Instrument with Snaps, Claps, Shouts and Stomps

If you've been searching for some fresh samples of snaps, claps, slaps, stomps, and shouts, pick up Red Room Audio’s vocal and body effects virtual instrument for Native Instruments Kontakt (full version). It's entirely free and sounds great!

The Sofia Session Orchestra

Engineers at Red Room Audio recorded the 24-piece mixed choir performing exactly what the Kontakt library name suggests: finger snaps, hand claps, thigh slaps, chest pounds, foot stomps and 12 shouted words - in a fairly dry hall with three mic positions, at one level (loud) with up to 12 round robin. The live recordings were performed by The Sofia Session Orchestra from Sofia, Bulgaria.

GUI

The GUI of the Kontakt Instrument features controls for volume, pan, tune, sample offset and length controls. It also features a size knob for layering round robins to increase ensemble size, microphone mixer, and a convolution reverb with 11 custom Impulse Responses. All the samples in “Snaps Claps Slaps Stomps & Shouts” are accessible from one NKI.
