In this week's Friday Free Plug-in, we are featuring OTT From Xfer Records. An interesting multiband dynamics plug-in which offers both upwards and downwards processing.
What Is OTT?
OTT is an interesting plug-in which offers three bands of dynamics processing which can either attenuate or amplify the signal relative to the threshold. The user interface isn’t immediately self explanatory but once you understand it, it’s easy to get predictable results. The key is that the orange dot in the meters is showing the pre-effect level and the cyan bars are showing the post dynamics level and the black bars in the meters are the threshold controls.
In downward mode this plug-in works well as a multiband compressor but it was in upward mode I found it most interesting as it offers an interesting way to add transient attack to sounds.
How Do I Get This Plug-in?
Go to the Xfer website and download the Mac or Windows version from the list of freeware.
OTT is a free plug-in and no iLok is required to run it. It is available for Mac or PC in VST, AU and AAX
