Whilst at IBC 2018 in Amsterdam we were able to get an exclusive first look at the new Loudness Toolkit suite of plug-ins including LM-Correct, ISL and VisLM which now has new presets for the new Netflix delivery spec with a new loudness parameter, Dialogue LRA as well as new flexibility to simultaneously monitor multiple integrated measurements.
What is In Nugen Audio Loudness Toolkit 2.8?
The latest version introduces native 7.1.2 audio processing across the board.
VisLM - now has a new loudness parameter, Dialogue LRA as well as new flexibility to simultaneously monitor multiple integrated measurements all designed to be the first product to support the new Netflix delivery spec with dialog gating for dialog consistency as well as improved compliance alert indicators and support for SAWA (LEQm) as well as TASA.
ISL - As you can see in our sneak peak video, the broadcast true-peak limiter now natively supports track counts up to 7.1.2.
LM-Correct - now handles 7.1.2 de-interleaved files offline (in addition to the existing stereo, 5.1 and 7.1 support) and will natively handle 7.1 and 7.1.2 tracks in the Avid and Adobe timelines, when applicable.
DynApt Now Included - The toolkit also now includes the DynApt extension. DynApt will be standard for all new customers and there will be upgrade options available for existing users in their online account areas on the Nugen Audio website.
The Loudness Toolkit update will be available in the 4th quarter of 2018.
What We Think About The Loudness Toolkit 2.8 From Nugen Audio
Even though we haven’t been able to play with it directly yet as it is still a work in progress, the surround of multi-channels up to 7.1.2 brings Nugen Audio firmly into the Dolby Atmos immersive workflow. The additional of the SAWA spec as well as TASA means that VisLM is also fully equipped for the film workflows as well as traditional broadcast and the new streaming services like Netflix.
Already having support for Dolby Dialog Intelligence has given them a head start to be able to support the new Netflix delivery spec and now to be able to measure and display the integrated loudness, full mix LRA, Dialog Loudness and Dialog LRA will make it so much easier to help mixers deliver content to the new Netflix spec and guidelines.
The rolling in of DynApt into the package will also make repurposing mixes for different delivery specs even easier. It was DynApt that I used in my detailed look at the new Netflix specs to change the LRA of Planet Earth 2 and The Grand Tour to make them more suitable for domestic consumption.
