"Since I was little, audio has always been a huge part of my life. Music is a huge part of my life, though I never really pursued sound production as a profession until after college. I thought I wanted to be a computer engineer, or a master electrician for a theatre. I never imagined that I would be doing audio for video production, but here I am. Although I started training in live audio engineering over a decade ago, the past couple years, I’ve transitioned into sound design and location sound. I currently work as the sole audio for video at a large church in Tampa, Florida, and have been slowly increasing the level of audio production we can support."
One of the biggest changes was the addition of a Pro Tools workflow, as opposed to Adobe Audition. It’s painfully clear how much more powerful Pro Tools is for the work we do. While we still have a long way to go to reach the excellence I aspire, it’s extremely satisfying to come up with creative solutions to make up for it. Equipment isn’t what makes a production good, but the right person with the right tools can make some pretty awesome stuff. I’ve always believed that good engineers start from the bottom, and learn how to make what they have work. At least, that’s what I tell myself."
"The Editors Keys bundle is something that I’ve wanted to get ever since transitioning from Adobe Audition to Pro Tools. The keyboard shortcuts are vastly different, and the transition was pretty rough because of it – one of the reasons why I have the Pro Tools Shortcuts Guide printed out next to my desk. I could have bought one of those cheap Mac keyboard covers, but I prefer a full size keyboard with a num pad. I’m hoping to get even more efficient in the edit with the new keyboard, as well as enjoying the other items in the bundle. I’ve been worrying more and more about the ergonomics of standard keyboards, so the wrist pad will help, and the bluetooth headphones and speaker will be nice to travel with."
