Winners Of Mastering The Mix LEVELS & REFERENCE Plug-ins Competition

Over the month of September 2017 Pro Tools Expert ran a competition in collaboration with our friends at Mastering The Mix, the mastering gurus and makers of LEVELS and REFERENCE. Five winners have been chosen at random, congratulations to you all.

I have a small home studio where I spend my weekends and a few hours after work during the week. This is my passion. I produce and record mostly hip hop, RnB and pop music. I'm currently on a few projects for some local artists. I am working on my first EP as an artist. I'm really excited about winning a copy of the Mastering The Mix plug-in bundle because I had planned on purchasing it based on the reviews that I read because I think it will help to take my music to a whole other level.

Thanks for the information and helpful tips that you provide @ Pro Tools Expert. It has and will continue to help myself and other musicians to become better at what we do.

Thanks again.

My name is John Fricker. When I decided to take early retirement in 2010 I decided to revisit an old hobby: audio recording. I had migrated from a small four track analogue recorder to an 8 track digital hard drive recorder some years prior to retiring. When I retired I decided to purchase Pro-tools 11 and a four channel MBox Pro interface and teach myself how to use it. I have recently upgraded my hardware to a Focusrite Scarlet eight channel interface and the new Focusrite 8 channel Octo Pre Dynamic. I am very much a self-taught amateur who has recorded/produced a number of CD's free of charge on a charitable basis for people who are fundraising. I have recorded one or two solo vocal CD's but mainly record brass bands or choirs for churches, or small groups who cannot afford the price of a commercial outfit. All my recording is done on location. As far as my studio goes: I edit my recordings at the table in the quiet of my holiday chalet in Devon, or at my desk at home. I try to read, update my knowledge base where I can. I have found it hard to find a suitable website that would cover the recording/editing of brass bands/choirs, never the less I like 'ProTools Expert' and find it very useful.

My studio life is pretty simple, I record my own music playing all the instruments. I am loving learning all about Pro Tools, music mixing and production, its a wonderful new world that I am exploring!

Peter Green

An experienced guitarist and singer who through my love of music has been heavily involved in recording & production.

I have a beautiful Pro Tools based home studio (started on a PC and Session 8)!

I have toured in bands, written/sold music for TV & radio and I work with singers & songwriters producing/recording/mixing & playing.

I often do live mixing also, so have even wrapped my ears & experience around that medium which I love.

I am currently coming back to music after being away from it for a while.  I am a singer-songwriter with emphasis on the singer part. I am currently taking classes to improve my skills on the songwriting side.  My studio is located in a corner of my home office where it has slowly changed from some outboard gear to primarily ITB.  I used to work on a 2006 Mac, but Pro Tools outgrew that a long time ago.  I currently have a self-built PC with a 6th generation i7 processor, 32 GB RAM, and multiple HDD’s. I also have a laptop I can use when I need to travel for the job that pays the bills.  I mostly am running with a Focusrite Scarlett 6i6,  2 Rokit 8 speakers, a Novation Launchkey 149, and a recently acquired Steven Slate mic.  I use a lot of Kontakt instruments, as well as EZDrummer or AD2 for drums and EZKeys for sketching out songs.   When I travel, I mostly use my MBox 2 micro, which is actually the perfect size for travel if you don’t need to plug something in.  I mostly use ProTools 12 for my work, though I will use Cubase 8 for sketching out songs because of the chord assistant.  If ProTools ever got a chord assistant type thing, I would drop Cubase so fast.  This prize will definitely come in handy because one of the things we are covering in my Studio Production class this semester is mastering using ProTools.

Let me know if you have any other questions or need more information

Thanks again!
