Arjen from Audio Ease has let us know that they have two new plug-ins, 360pan and 360monitor in beta, to be released very soon, possibly in time for the AES Convention. If you are looking to produce audio for 360 VR movies for YouTube, then keep a watch on the developments from Audio Ease.
When producing 360 VR content for YouTube you need to be able to output an ambisonics stream for upload, and then best practice is to be able to check your mix to check exactly the way it will sound on YouTube, to make sure that what you hear will match what you see before you upload it to YouTube. This is what Audio Ease has designed their new Pro Tools AAX or VST plug-ins: 360pan and 360monitor to achieve.
This will be a YouTube 360 ambisonics panner, which you will be able to control directly from the Pro Tools video window.
This is a YouTube ambisonics to headphones plugin, so you can check that the Ambisonics audio decodes out to binaural and works as expected as you look around in the VR space, all from within Pro Tools.
More To Come
As these are in beta, there is no more information, but we understand price and release date will be announced shortly.
