HISSandaROAR - SD027 Small Props - $99
Whenever Tim Prebble is shopping in junk stores he tends to search more with his ears than his eyes, and over the last few decades has managed to accumulate a formidable collection of intriguing props, and small musical instruments. Each has a unique character and tonality, the collection has now been immortalised in this new library of Small Props, captured 24bit 96kHz in stereo via ORTF MKH8040 pair.
This library also contains a number of performed sound effects which would normally be covered by a foley artist, but having access to such material can be very useful for sound design and accordingly a range of performances and articulations are provided with each. All of which should be great for animation, accents, characterful video game sound effects, unusual UI sounds and also as practical sound effects and foley additions.

Avosound Desolation Soundscapes Compact - 39 Euros
We covered the release of Desolation Landscapes in a previous Sunday Sound Effects Round Up but now Avosound have released a compact version due to popular demand made up of 48k/24bit stereo files.
Desolation Soundscapes Compact contains 31 audio tracks of concentrated silence as stereo version from the Desolation Soundscapes Library. These recordings were made in some of the most remote areas of the world and are part of the Mountain Soundscapes collection. Although these recordings technically contain 'nothing', their timbre adds force and expression to to a scene. 'Nothingness' is a powerful sound with many variations. When used properly, the Desolation Soundscapes convey infinity and vastness, yet at the same time they can also signify constriction and quietude.

- Stereo Version in 24 Bit / 48 kHz
- 39 Euros
The Sound Keeper - Normal Doors - $79
Jeremy Rodgers has been in touch to say that now he has finished Uncharted 4 at Naughty Dog, he has finally had time to make a new sound effects library and that library is Normal Doors.
Normal Door sounds? Yes, lots of them!. A door opening or closing in a film/tv show/video game can absolutely take you out of the experience if done incorrectly.
At the end of working on Uncharted 4, the last sound he created was a door opening and closing. It was just a normal household door. He couldn't find any good door opening and closing sounds (and creaks...don't get him started!) He also didn't have time to go out and record his own and so was extremely frustrated.
We all know that there are a LOT of different types of doors in this world. Most sound libraries try to record ALL varieties of doors. The problem is that you might have a lot of different and unique doors, but only a couple of NORMAL house doors. Or, they just have a couple of NORMAL industrial doors. A sound designer's worst nightmare is lack of variety and choice.
With that in mind, he went on a personal journey to record all the normal doors he could find. He recorded door openings, closings, squeaks and creaks. That's it! He wanted the largest variety of normal house and industrial door openings/closings/creaks/squeaks on the market. For his next project, he didn't want a door sound getting him frustrated again!
- Normal Household Doors
- Normal Industrial Doors
- 1400+ Sounds
- 120+ Doors
- Opening, Closing, Squeaking and Creaking
- Stereo 96Khz, 24 bit - 2.48 Gigs
- Metadata included for programs like Soundminer
