Congratulations to Håkan Lundberg, Michiel Lagae and Anand Nambiar who have been selected as winners of June's Prime Studio competition.
1st Prize Winner - Håkan Lundberg
The first prize is a complete Mix of your song in control room C of Prime Studio - mixed with the legendary EMI TG12345 MK IV console out of Abbey Road Studios and tons of the finest outboard gear and the winner of this prize is Håkan Lundberg.
Håkan has been writing music for over 25 yrs and is currently published by Cymba Music Publishing, Canada. He is based in Gothenburg, Sweden having starting out as a keyboard player for DMC World Champion DJ Sanny X. He spent extensive time in the UK working on various projects before landing his first publishing deal with Warner Chappell UK.
As a former member of the soul/pop group S-Connection his writing and production chops are an extension of his past career. Anchoring the likes of pop clubbers of Japanese darlings Love & Devotion and Canadians Blushed, he is no stranger to global pop. Nashville's Randy Goodrum and Tony Marty, the legendary Nicky Chinn, Brits Lee Bennett and Simon Perry and domestic rocker Brolle Jr. are just a few of the collaborators, with cuts ranging from Canada's Blushed to the stars of Operation Triunfo, Spain's version of the international Popstars franchise.
His most recent cuts have been with Japanese girl group Choice, placements on international TV shows in Canada and Brazil and he recently concluded writing trips not only to North America, but to Portugal and Spain, where his song hit the top 10 with Universal artist Paula Rojo.
2nd Prize - Michiel Lagae
The second prize won by Michiel Lagae is a pre-master of a song (wav & ddp format). Mastered with two EMI boards - the EMI TG 12345 MK IV, the EMI TG 12410 Transfer desk, GML mastering gear & an analog limiting processor.
Michiel is a 23 year old freelance producer, musician and music enthusiast. He is currently still studying Musicology (part of Art History programme) at the University of Ghent. He told us...
I've always had a big interest in music and first started out playing guitar and occasionally some piano from the age of twelve and there was always a good portion of music at home. Throughout my interest in music I became more involved with the different aspects of music recording and music performance. (booking, promo, engineering, pa, etc..)
As a producer/engineer I have learned mainly through my father who has been a recording and performing artist for the last 40 years. (G.T. Moore) I've had the opportunity to go on the road as a rhythm guitar player and to record some sessions for him with proper session players in a proper studio environment. Currently still mixing an upcoming release of his with Richard Bailey (Jeff Beck / Steve Winwood) on drums, Kuma Harada (Peter Green / Snowy White) on bass, James Lascelles (Frank Zappa / Steve Harley) on keys and my father on guitar. I will most likely use the pre-master from Prime Studios on one of these tracks.
