Last month we ran a competition where the prize was a Plugin Alliance Everything DSP pack and we are pleased to announce that Nathan Handy is the lucky winner.
I'm a Toronto-based Dad and audio engineer, working on music and post with The Eggplant, where I've been Chief Audio Engineer for over 11 years.
After graduating from Fanshawe College's Music Industry Arts program, I moved to Toronto when I was offered a job at the legendary Manta Sound. There, I learned from the best team of audio engineers and assistants ever assembled under one roof. The building eventually closed to make way for condos, and after briefly working with the company at a new facility, I left to take a gig as a guitar player and toured across Canada and the US for a while. But it turns out I like studio life more than stage life, so then I freelanced around Toronto again, including a stint with the CBC, our national broadcaster. Among other projects, I got to mix the first season of Rick Mercer's Monday Report (Canadian readers will hopefully know it).
The Eggplant scooped me up in 2004, and they've kept me incredibly busy ever since. We have 2 studios with HDX1 systems and one with an HD Native system, along with a big team of producers, composers, engineers, and sound designers who make great things happen. Our list of DSP plugins is much shorter than it was before we swapped our HD systems for HDX, so I've had my eye on Plugin Alliance, but it was just recently that I finally tried the Maag EQ4… I love what it can do. New toys are always great for inspiring new ideas, and I'm sure having this entire DSP bundle will lead to a lot of experimentation. Big thanks to the PTE team and Plugin Alliance!
