The AIR Users Blog puts it through its paces.
The new virtual Arp Quadra from Synth Magic. In their words 'Sounds of the Quadra is a fantastic instrument for MAC and PC and will allow the user to create the fantastic sounds of this legendary 1978 synthesiser.'
There's a huge amount of stuff said about sound mixing, I'm sure there's a joke that would go something like this 'How many mix engineers does it take to change a light bulb? 20, 1 to do it and the other 19 to say they could do it better.'
The truth is, that although there are some fundamental principles about balance, phase and clipping, so much of it is really about taste. One man's meat really is another man's poison.
Music Radar have just reviewed the awesome SSL Nucleus and give it the full 5 stars.
In their words; 'This is a pleasing, easy-to-use unit that has true pro quality, making something you'd want to add to, not improve. Just add DAW and speakers. Verdict: A high-quality DAW controller and soundcard that requires investment but will pay back in productivity.'

I'd like to to show my appreciation to Russ who is running the blog out of pure idealism, giving new PT-users and veterans alike a great place to connect, learn, access sounds and get inspired. I've been a regular reader of the blog for a couple of years now, for these reasons. And I still find the posts, the videos and the sounds very inspiring.
We know that some of our users would rather chop off their right arm with a blunt biro than join Facebook.
If that's you, we've given the option to post your studio pictures on Flickr. We've already republished the Facbook pictures to Flickr, if you want to add your own, then feel free.

A number of times this year we said that we felt Avid were on their way back. Product launches are one thing, the real test is on the balance sheet.
Well today Avid reported revenues of $195.3 million for the three-month period ended December 31, 2010, compared to $174.7 million for the same period in 2009.

For the most part this is not an issue, however we would love a Windows Guru who could post tips and tricks that are Windows only, or cool software and system settings as well as apps out there to help users.

When I encouraged blog community members to post pictures of their studios on our Facebook page, I had no idea what to expect. In a few days pictures have appeared of studios from around the world. Some are full blown pro studios and others project studios.
For some reason the whole exercise has moved me and I'm not sure why?
I think it's the case that whilst words are powerful, they tend to bring a one dimensional view into the life of the writer, photos seem to bring a 3D perpective. Perhaps on an emotional level they give us a way into their world. It has been said that the eyes are the windows of the soul, perhaps pictures are the windows into a person's world.
I'm not sure what it is, but it has moved and humbled me, thinking of all you wonderful community members opening up your world makes me think this is the best idea I've had for a long time.
So thank you! For those yet to post, please keep them coming and please keep more shots of your 'pride and joy' if you have already posted. Take time to read the comments and please ask questions about the shots - I certainly am. You can do it here
This community is only as healthy as the lifeblood that runs through it, every member matters and the more we share the stronger we become.
Number 3 in our series of classic basses. It's so critical to have a great sounding bass in the mix and some of the classics are sometimes just what the doctor ordered. This is a cool Ken Smith bass. Enjoy!
I've decided to make the Facebook prize draw democratic. The studio picture that has the most 'likes' every Friday gets the prize.
This week a copy of the Fantom, Motif and Vintage Libraries from the AIR Users Blog.
Your studio picture can only win once. So get voting!
