Our attention has been drawn to the Avid End Of Life page on which three products have been added, the Artist Control, Venue Profile, and Venue Mixrack products.
As you can see the Artist Control will no longer sold from 30th June 2016, but in line with Avid's hardware support policy support will continue for 5 years until June 2021.
What Does This Mean?
Avid state that the Final Sale Date is the last day a product is available for sale. The End of Sale is the date when a product may no longer be ordered or shipped and End of Support is the date which all forms of service and technical support for a product cease
Note: Driver updates for some Avid Audio hardware products may be provided beyond the Final Sale Date. Please check the appropriate driver page for latest qualification information.
The Avid Venue Profile and Mixrack systems will no longer sold from 31st July 2016 with the end of support on 31st July 2021.
So that leaves the Avid Mix as the only current Artist Series product still being sold with Avid ending sales of the Artist Transport earlier this year.
So What Now?
We really need a cost effective replacement to the Artist Series. The Dock and S3 are excellent solutions but the S3 takes up alot of space. We need cost effective controller solutions for those of us working from home.
Avid need to produce an Artist Control/Mix replacement or partner with someone to produce an appropriate product. Who would you like to see partner with Avid to make a solution? What features should it have? Do share your thoughts in the comments below...
