HHB Scrub has supplied the biggest dual operator Avid S6 M40 console in Europe into Goldcrest’s new Dubbing Theatre 2 on Dean Street in Soho, London.
Being the biggest dual operator S6 in Europe, the project marks a milestone in innovation for both Goldcrest and Scrub. Goldcrest are also building an even bigger Dolby ATMOS dubbing studio just below Theatre 2 that will have identical S6s, making the rooms completely interchangeable.
Scrub also supplied and helped configure the S6 with Pro Tools HDX and Digital Audio Denmark (DAD) AX32 and DX32 interfaces.
The modular platform of the S6 allows Goldcrest to configure the console in multiple set-ups to fit the workflow of each project. Studio Manager Robert Weatherall told us...
The fact that we are able to reconfigure the S6 modules in different arrangements is amazing because we are able to arrange the room in so many different ways; It can be a single man mix room or an extension of someone’s cutting room, or it can be set up as a two man theatrical mix theatre. These major configuration changes can be made in a few hours, whereas in the past it would have meant a lot of planning and additional equipment hire.
The Pro Tools rigs with the DAD interfaces means we can literally route signals anywhere, with ease. We are no longer challenged by having to move huge stacks of 192s because the flexibility of the system means we have moved away from drives and huge interface rigs.
Scrub was extremely accommodating in their ideas and helped to make this huge project run smoothly. Their technical engineers helped configure the desk and their knowledge of Pro Tools S6 is so extensive that we can call with a question anytime and get an answer immediately. They were genuinely interested in the project from the outset and worked hard to help us realise our vision.”
