CD Frames are not one of the standard timeline and ruler options in Pro Tools. However when CD mastering one should be working to CD frames - which are 75 frames per second. Community member James Drake has come up with a way of setting up Pro Tools, when preparing CD masters, so that the timeline and the grid are set to 75 frames per second…
If you want a grid in Pro Tools to equal one CD Frame, so you can snap region boundaries or zero crossings to the edge of a CD Frame.
- One CD Frame is 1/75 second, or 588 samples (at 44.1kHz).
- Make your project tempo 281.25, with resolution: crotchet.
- Set grid to Bars:Beats, 1/64 note.
- Now each grid boundary will be exactly 588 samples, one CD Frame.
Mike says, nice solution, thank you.
