We get a few emails from users who try and download content from our servers which can be slow, or the file may drop during download.
Whilst we try and do all we can to ensure quality of service at our end, we have no control over what happens between us and the user. The image above shows a traceroute between Google and PTE HQ via a Virgin Media connection.
As you can see the journey isn’t simply point to point, but in this case over 13 servers are passed through, even the Virgin media trip takes in 4 servers. We hate slow and failed downloads but as you can see, there’s so many parts of the journey we have no control over. We hope this helps explain a little more when things seem frustratingly slow!
