Email Article
Yes it's true T-Pain (image withheld for fear of being sued), perhaps the man most proud of the overuse of Antares auto-tune, and who arguably made his name from it, has decided he doesn't need them anymore and has now jumped in bed with Izotope to sell his own line of tuning products. You may have read the recent post on it?
In an attempt to promote his new venture, this PR stunt is being done in the hope of distancing his name from the brand that helped make the T-Pain effect (sorry correction Cher effect) so famous. He is asking for $1million in damages and also for them to stop using his name and image in any marketing. I suppose a simple email wouldn't suffice for T-Pain?
My guess is that the only winner in this will be T-Pain's lawyers who need their ass kicking, and I for one, hope the judge does exactly that. It's litigious, cynical bullshit.
What amazes me is that the Izoptope guys are some of the smartest brains in the audio world, the best thing they could do is to distance themselves from this act of utter stupidity. Why in hell's name would Izoptope want to be associated with this kind of stupidity, it can only harm the Izotope brand. I've always had great respect for Izoptope, but this does put a question mark over my future buying decisions, from what I've until now, considered to be a respectable brand.
In other developments Pinocchio is suing Geppetto, as he now is working on his own brand.

Take a look at T-Pain on Twitter, it kind of sums it all up, the entire page background is an advert for his new software.
