Something I Want The Pro Tools Community To Know

A week ago I got a call from Avid HQ, asking me if I would meet with Avid CEO Gary Greenfield and Senior Vice President, Worldwide Marketing, Ron Greenberg. I of course agreed, so tonight we met in London for dinner. I did not speak about it on the blog beforehand because I wanted a clear head, rather than a ton of emails asking me to take a particular stance or agenda; I had one, how can we work together to ensure a healthy future for Pro Tools and the user community.
I’m not going to go into details of the evening right now, but I simply want to say that it was an excellent time of open discussion around a variety of subjects, including many of the concerns we have about Pro Tools. We all agreed that it would be good to work closer together for the long term good of the Pro Tools community.
Having spent time with both of them, I’m confident and assured by their passion for Pro Tools and the user community. I’m honoured by their efforts to reach out in this way, they are busy people and have more than enough things in their schedules without having to make time to meet me in London, but they did and that speaks volumes to me.
The last few years of the blog have been an interesting journey; tonight spells a new chapter, one in which I’m excited by the possibilities of this new open channel of communication.
