Entire Track Made With Venom And New AIR Users Blog Library

We are working fast to get an AIR Users Blog Venom Synth Library Out.

We are about half way through, so as a taster we've created an entire track using just Venom and our new presets. That's 2 tracks of drums from Venom, bass, pad, arp, poly and riff... every single sound is Venom as it left the synth, no additional effects.

It's amazing what this little baby is capable of, not just edgey sounds but textures and evolving soundscapes... in the words of Charlton Heston if you want this 'from my cold dead hands'.

There's a standard MP3 and also a WAV so you can hear it in all it's glory... enjoy!

Wow. Very impressive indeed. Of course, one has to be as good as you are to get this kind of result, Russ, but way to show off the power of this keyboard. Last thing on my mind in these kakanomic times was another keyboard. Now, I'm not so sure! Thanks for everything you do.

Nice track mate.

Russ, this should be the factory demo! This is WAY better than the one built into the Venom. I'm not sure what Avid/M-Audio was thinking. Frankly, I was kinda surprised at how dull and lifeless the Venom's factory demo is considering the patches in the factory banks, but we don't buy synths for their factory demos, now do we?

Russ I have defended you when some people have said this site is nothing more than a money making pretence. I think my defence has been misplaced.

Every post on your front page is dedicated to Venom.

@ Spinky

I always print the comments on the site, good, bad, reasonable or dumb - I have nothing to hide.

1. I appreciate the thought that you may have defended the blog in the past. However, there's no need to defend me or the site, I'm big enough to take on anyone, especially those with such stupid arguments as the one you have suggested you have had to counter. In the absence of truth then people make up anything.
2. Does the site ever make money? Yes - a small amount to help keep the wheels on this thing, but certainly nothing I could either a) call an income b) that barely covers the cost for this. For example my last commission cheque from affiliate sales for this entire site (that's anytime anyone clicks on a banner which takes them to a third party) was $93.39 (about £50) for the entire month of December.
3. Venom is a brand new product which a lot of people have an interest in, the blog do not sell, so no money making there and the new sound set (which has currently taken 4 days to create) will be free to blog members, so the chance of me becoming Donald Trump from any Venom related posts, is about as likely as me growing tits and appearing as Miss February in Playboy 2011.

So yes right now there is lot of information about Venom right now, look back you'll see the same coverage about PT9 when that was launched and Mbox too, it's the natural outcome of a new product launch with a lot of interest.

If it doesn't suit you then give it a couple of weeks and go enjoy someone else' blog/forum, although I was always taught that at times you may find yourself in conversations that are not exactly what you are interested in, on those occasions it's best just to allow other people a chance to speak about something they like.

I'm puzzled by your connection between the coverage of Venom and the blog making money, I suppose if we consider that rational fully, then if I didn't talk about Venom, then the blog would exist to give money away? I think the only thing misplaced in this case is the logic of an argument.

My advice the next time you have to counter the 'big bad, money making machine, corporate, on the payroll of Avid, Ferrari driving, billionaire, blog owning, Brit bad boy' is to tell them to have the balls to make that complaint to me - then I'll give them a little bit of Malcom Tucker they can take home to mum.

Cheers!

PS: Every article on the front page is not Venom - there's Mbox, Pro Tools 9 Academic, NAMM and Sonnox, some FREE (money making) sounds at least - seems I'm not the only one prone to a little hyperbole.

Boy, Russ, remind me never to get into your bad books!
You put heaps into the Blog so you deserve some form of 'reward' ($93, more than I've ever made out of music!). My humble view on the Venom 'argument' is where there is support there is a potential sale! If Blog Russ is demonstrating how to use something explicitly , showcasing capabilities and how one can create music with it, then it's a few steps closer to having my cash, as ,at least one can clearly see and hear what one is purchasing. This I appreciate. Everytime I go into a music store I get bombarded with sales people who couldn't give a stuff. They just tweak a few knobs on a product and tell you 'everything's in the manual'. Well salespeople...I haven't read one manual in my life and I'm not about to start!
If the Blog's going to support Venom and release soundsets/patches,demo vids then it's something that seems to be gaining momentum, supported by someone in the business who obviously knows what he is talking about and has an idea of how to introduce the lesser musically empowered bloggers to the possibilities of creating music, therefore, there's value in investing in it. Look forward to more Venom vids.

ps: Miss February...would make a good PTools 9 splashscreen!!

@ Dom
No one's in my bad books, I just think if someone wants to spout bollocks about the blog, even worse spineless people who use supporters like Spinky to do their dirty work, then they should expect a reply, even if they don't have the courtesy or balls to say it themselves, I should still have the courtesy to reply.

Perhaps I shouldn't have Malcolm Tucker as one of my heroes - if anyone is not aware of who he is, he is a character in a BBC show called 'The Thick Of It'. His finest moments can be seen here (very strong language) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjAyazqtQj8

I'd noticed there were quite a bit of Venom posts lately. Made complete sense to me.

From the looks of it, it's fantastic new tool (or toy, depending on your use), so why wouldn't you be devoting your time to exploring the crap out of it? I had no interest in it at all, but I've become more curious the more I've been hearing. And if I had one, damn straight I'd be experimenting and blogging the crap about it.

On a similar note, even though I'm an Apple fan, I have no interest in the iPad now. But I love hearing about new software and apps for them. If this is where the industry is going, I want to know about it while it's happening.

Just keep the posts coming.

** sigh ** if I have one complaint about all this Venom coverage its that the track Russ threw together makes me feel a completely inadequate musican lacking in skill and creativity... but then thats entirely my problem and not Russ's or Venoms.....

BTW - Malcolm Tucker - I sssooo wish I could put people in their place at work like he does, just for a day....
